About us

A vending company started by someone who hated vending machines.

Chroma Oasis is locally owned and operated in the Austin metro area. The owner walks your space, signs the agreement and restocks the machine. There is nobody else.

Meet our founder

Barsha Chapain

Barsha started her career as a registered nurse and grew into a medical logistics role, bringing a great deal of operations experience with her. The idea for Chroma Oasis came from somewhere entirely unglamorous: the vending machines at the hospital where she worked.

They jammed. They took money and gave nothing back. They sold nothing anyone on a twelve-hour shift actually wanted to eat. And every single person in the building had simply accepted that this was how vending machines were.

When she found open-door smart machines — no coils, nothing to get stuck, shelves that could hold real food — the interesting part was not the technology. It was that it delighted both the people using it and the management responsible for the space. She decided to bring that to Austin, starting with the northern corridor where she lives.

It is still Barsha who reads your application, walks your space and restocks your machine. That is not a growth stage we are trying to get past. It is the product.

A real photo of Barsha belongs here — see the notes we sent about images.

The Oasis vision

Grab & go magic.

Chroma Oasis was born from a simple realisation: traditional vending is broken. We wanted grabbing a meal on the go to feel as natural as reaching into your own fridge.

Effortless by design

Tap your card, open the door, browse with your hands. Smart sensors track whatever you remove, and closing the door ends the transaction. No checkout, no scanning, no mechanical failures.

Reliable re-stocks

The open-door design means no coils to break down and no items to get stuck. It also allows a compact footprint, so there is no huge, ugly machine dominating your space. Restocks are done by the owner directly — your local neighbour.

A conversation piece

Rather than an old eyesore in the corner, the machine reads as something modern. It adds value to your space and shows visitors that the business pays attention to detail.

What we believe about this business

A machine that is empty is worse than no machine. It is a daily, visible signal that somebody stopped caring, sitting in the middle of your breakroom. That is why we keep our service area small and our restocks frequent, and why we turn down placements we cannot serve properly.

The operator matters more than the equipment. Anyone can put a nice machine in a room. The question is what happens in month nine. We would rather be judged on that than on a spec sheet.

Say the honest thing. If your space will not support a machine, we will tell you. If we are not the right operator for your size or location, we will say that too. It costs us a placement and saves everyone a year of disappointment.

Vending should be able to sell real food. The reason it mostly does not is a mechanical limitation from the 1950s that nobody questioned. Removing the coil removes the limit.
